Scientific-technical reports

Series: Scientific-Technical Reports of the Institute of Marine and Coastal Research

The scientific activities of IIMyC members are generally disseminated through peer-reviewed, high-impact global scientific journals. However, much valuable information does not necessarily become formal publications due to its local relevance or because it addresses specific questions or requests from third-party services. To address this gap, the IIMyC has created the Scientific-Technical Reports (STRs).

These reports aim to disseminate the scientific and technical work conducted by IIMyC personnel in a standardized, public, and unified manner. STRs are conceived as documents describing the process, progress, or results of scientific or technical research, or the state of a scientific or technical research problem. They may also include research recommendations and conclusions. Unlike journal publications or some academic conference proceedings, STRs are not peer-reviewed, though this may be implemented in the future. The opinions expressed in STRs are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of IIMyC.

STRs may include progress or final reports from consultancies/technical advisory work conducted through UNMdP and/or CONICET, as well as reports with local/regional relevance that may not warrant traditional scientific publication. They do not include scholarship or researcher career reports, project reports (e.g., PICT, PIP), project/researcher evaluations, field campaign reports (field trips, ship surveys, etc.), or support letters for various causes.

Each STR follows a standardized format (e.g., structure, cover design) and is easily identifiable by the institutional logo. Reports are assigned a common, sequential identifier (report number). The entire series is uniquely identified by an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number).
An ad-hoc committee of IIMyC researchers assesses the relevance of STRs and oversees their submission, database management, and related activities.
