Research Lines

Currently, the following thematic areas/research lines are being developed:

  • Role of biomineralizations in biogeochemical cycles in soils, surface waters, and groundwater of natural and anthropized environments, their relationship with heavy metals and pedological properties.

  • Silicification process in plant species from continental and coastal environments, and its relationship with anatomical and systematic aspects, bioecological characteristics, and environmental factors.

  • Phytoliths in soils, paleosols, and archaeological contexts. Taphonomic aspects and their use in paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental studies.

  • Modification of soil structure induced by different land uses. Soil quality indicators: physical, chemical, and biological properties.

  • Soil-biota interaction. Effect of land use on organism habitat and biological traits.
