Research lines

The main research is focused on the environmental dynamics and effects of POPs, PUAs and PCPP on biotic and abiotic matrices.
Currently the group develops the following areas:
– Contamination of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in continental, estuarial and marine environments by POPs and PUAs: water, soils, sediments, vegetation, fish, invertebrates.
– Evaluation of the impact of POPs, PUAs and PCPP on freshwater and marine fish species.
– Study of POPs and PUAs in soils and sediments: Adsorption-desorption processes, bioavailability.
– Phytoremediation of soils: use of edible plants and tree species.
– Atmospheric transport of contaminants: passive (natural and artificial) and active samplers.
– POPs, PUAs and PCPP in groundwater: vulnerability of aquifers. Risk analysis.
– Sublethal effects of pollutants, specific and non-specific biomarkers.
