History

Ecology and Paleoecology of Continental Aquatic Environments (acronym: EPAACO) is a recently created multidisciplinary working group (April 2010) that brings together researchers, fellows, and teachers who had been working individually on different aspects of the ecology and paleoecology of continental aquatic environments. Thus, the need arose to complement, link, and integrate the results achieved in the respective areas of knowledge of each of the researchers involved in these two research lines. Through this integration, it became possible to coordinate the multiplicity of indicators and approaches, allowing independent tracking of variations in different parameters or signals, which contributes to more accurate and precise interpretations, explanations, and predictions.

The objectives of this group are:

  • To understand the current dynamics of aquatic systems in the Pampean Region.

  • To reconstruct their environmental evolution during the Quaternary from a multidisciplinary perspective.
