History
The proposal of the Marine Species Ecology and Genetics Research Group is based on the need to integrate ecological and genetic information of marine coastal species that share a habitat but possess different dispersal capabilities and life histories (sessile / motile; direct development / planktonic larva; invertebrates / vertebrates; estuarine / marine). In this context, to better understand the functioning of modern coastal communities, it is extremely useful to complement ecological studies (diversity, trophic interactions, life histories) with population genetics studies (demography, genetic structure, gene flow).
